english:The band MINDEAD was founded in early 2001 by Timo Fielker (vocals), Marcel Grashei (guitars) and Benjamin Hölle (drums). A few months later Benedikt Wagner (bass) joined the band and made it complete. The first songs were written. The result: a massive sound grenade of intoxicating guitars blended with thunderous drums and emotional vocals covering the whole spectrum from melodic melancholy to brutal aggression.

Having received tremendously positive feedback after their first gigs, the band decided to produce their first 4-song "Promo-CD" all by themselves, which they handed out for free at the following shows.

Further performances and achievements such as miscellaneous airplays at foreign radio stations and high rankings in a whole bunch of internet-charts kept following.

Late 2003 MINDEAD recorded a second EP entitled "Still Empty". Like their first CD, they produced it themselves. Especially the band’s more melancholic and emotional side is audible on this EP.

Again the band gained a lot of positive reception for their work and was now playing shows with well-known German bands like Emil Bulls and The Anti Doctrine, and later even with international acts like Transport League (2004), Mnemic (2007), Destinity (2008), Dagoba (2008) and DevilDriver (2009).

Seeing MINDEAD on stage is a must for anyone. Their live shows are very energetic and convincing and the infectious atmosphere on stage will hardly leave any audience cold. Coming in first at both the Ludwigsburger Bandcontest in 2004 as well as the Kwick.de-Newcomer-Contest in 2006 speaks up for that fact.

In July 2005 MINDEAD started recording their first full-lenght studio album. Three years later the band signed with the label 7hard which released the album in late summer 2008. The 11 tracks on “Abandon All Hope” burst of energy and sparkle in absolutely professional sound due to the mastering skills of Andy Classen as well as the dynamic assistance of Ben Bariton, who also lend a helping hand to productions of the Farmer Boys and Dacia and the w.m.d.

In order to be able to deliver the full impact of their new material in live-shows, the four-piece felt the need of an additional guitar player. So in April 2007 Michael Trautner, axe-man of MINDEAD´s local band-buddies Pachet, joined the band which brought a breath of fresh air and vitality and also pushed their live performance and sound into new dimensions.

MINDEAD’s music could be categorized as modern metal. They manage to write interesting songs by using heavy, “moshable” metal riffs refined with sometimes aggressive, sometimes melodic elements. In short: this band will appeal to both neck and soul.



deutsch:Anfang des Jahres 2001 gründeten Timo Fielker (Vocals), Marcel Grashei (Gitarre) und Benjamin Hölle (Drums) die Band MINDEAD. Wenige Monate später schloss sich Benedikt Wagner (Bass) der damals noch unvollständigen Kombo an, womit die Band (vorläufig) komplett war und erste Songs schrieb.

Das Ergebnis: Eine Soundgranate aus mitreißenden Gitarren, donnernden Drums und aggressiv/emotionalem Gesang, der mühelos das gesamte Spektrum von melodischem Cleangesang bis zu aggressiven Shouts abdeckt.

Nachdem sie für ihre ersten Gigs enorm positive Resonanzen erhielten, beschloss die Band, ihre erste 4 Songs umfassende Demo-CD komplett in Eigenregie zu produzieren. Dieses schlicht "Promo-CD" genannte Demo verteilten MINDEAD gratis auf ihren dann folgenden Konzerten. Es folgten weitere Auftritte und Errungenschaften wie diverse Airplays bei ausländischen Radiosendern und hohe Positionen in einigen Internet-Charts.

Gegen Ende 2003 nahmen MINDEAD ihre erste EP mit dem Titel "Still Empty" auf. Sie produzierten sie, wie schon die erste CD, selbst. Auf dieser EP war nun auch überwiegend die melancholische, emotionale Seite der Band deutlich hörbar.

Wieder erhielten die vier Musiker eine Menge positiver Reaktionen auf ihre Arbeit. Sie spielten jetzt unter Anderem Shows mit bekannten deutschen Bands wie den Emil Bulls, The Anti Doctrine, später auch mit internationalen Acts wie Transport League (2004), Mnemic (2007), Destinity (2008), Dagoba (2008) und DevilDriver (2009).

Im Juli 2005 begannen MINDEAD mit den Aufnahmen ihres ersten Longplayers. Drei Jahre später unterschrieb die Band beim Winnendener Label 7hard, welches das Album im Spätsommer 2008 veröffentlichte. Das 11 Songs starke Werk trägt den Titel "Abandon All Hope" und scheint geradezu vor Energie zu explodieren. Der äußerst professionelle Sound dieses Silberlings ist sowohl dem Mastering von Soundexperte Andy Classen als auch der tatkräftigen Unterstützung von Ben Bariton zu verdanken, der schon bei Produktionen der Farmer Boys, Dacia und The W.M.D. mitwirkte.

Im April 2007 beschlossen die vier Schwaben, ab sofort als Quintett weiterzumachen und holten sich Zweitgitarrist Michael Trautner an Bord, den man schon aus seiner Zeit als Gitarrist bei den lokalen Band-Buddies Pachet kannte. MINDEAD sind damit endgültig komplett und klingen mittlerweile eingespielter, vielseitiger und brutaler als je zuvor.

Bei Live-Auftritten überzeugen MINDEAD durch ihre ansteckende, energiegeladene Liveshow und das enorme Moshpotential ihrer Songs. So ging die Band bereits zweimal als Sieger in einem Band Contest hervor: Im Juli des Jahres 2004 spielten sich MINDEAD im Ludwigsburger Band-Contest gegen 39 andere Bands an die Spitze, was ihnen im September 2006 beim Kwick.de Newcomer-Contest erneut gelang.

Die Musik von MINDEAD kann man als modernen Metal bezeichnen. Dabei gelingt es ihnen, ihre Songs trotz harter Metal-Riffs eingängig zu verpacken und mit melodischen Elementen zu verfeinern. Kurz gesagt: Diese Band bietet nicht nur was für den Nacken sondern auch für die Seele.
